superstition & (butterf)lies

Images from Damien Hirst's Superstition: series of butterfly mosaic pieces created by applying the butterflies to wet paint. Some of the most awesomely beautiful things I have ever seen. I wish I could find better pictures online (only the cream colored photos are any good), but alas, I cannot, and our scanner is broken, so the book itself (Superstition) is out of the question.

I'd die to have a skirt made out of the third detail shot.

brights

YSL tribute heels, Stella McCartney satin clutch, Balenciaga skirt, Proenza Schouler dress, Marni cuff, Lanvin clutch, Dries van Noten clutch, Proenza skirt

I'd probably only wear about half of this: the Proenza, Dries, and Balenciaga. I weep for the Proenza (that dress!). I'm too afraid of leopard print, purple turns me off a little, and the yellow on the clutch is probably a little too bright for me.

if i were to wear color, however...

it would definitely be along the lines of Erdem's most recent collection, which makes me wish I were of the endlessly legged and didn't feel silly in red lipstick.

I desperately either want her (left) skirt or her (right) dress because that fabric is insane! It's hard to tell on this screen, plus with the lack of detail shots and the ambien, it's looking like over-exposed photographs of flowers have been given the Jackson Pollock treatment. Which sounds completely delicious. I want my bedsheets made out of that fabric.

Something about the whole collection reminds me of the Tsars, for no apparent reason. Maybe the intense colors on the black background and the heavy red lips. This next piece in particular just look so Nicholas II - well not him specifically, but his Tsaritsa, children, and the ladies of the court. P.S. His favorite game until age 20 was hide and seek.

Can't you just imagine Anastasia being rounded up with her family and shot in this hot little number?

I love the blue dress on the right because it looks so retro-futuristic. Something about the shoulders just screams 50s/60s scifi automaton. In fact, she very much looks like some kind of Jetsons-age air stewardess, or rather, flight attendant.
